How to drink yerba mate?
In South America, yerba mate is drunk in special dishes called bombillas. They can be made of gourds, but not necessarily. The mixture is poured with boiling water (even several times), then drunk through a metal straw with a strainer, which prevents the coffee grounds from penetrating.
How to prepare yerba mate step by step:
- Pour ¼ to ¾ of the amount into a container, depending on the desired intensity of the infusion.
- Cover the hole with your hand and shake it a few times.
- Place the straw in the dish.
- Pour water at a temperature of 65 to 80 degrees Celsius so that it covers the leaves.
- When the dry material is soaked, add as much water as possible.
