Inline skates are very long-lasting sports equipment, so it is worthwhile to prepare for this purchase. The equipment should be adapted to individual needs and foot size. The price of inline skates varies greatly and the price is usually a reflection of the quality. However, good quality recreational skates cost about 80$.

Children and beginners should buy hard roller skates with a rigid plastic boot. Amateurs usually choose four-wheeled models of the same size (five-wheeled models are intended for performance driving).

More advanced people may be tempted by high-speed skates, which allow dynamic movement and development at considerable speed. They have large-diameter wheels, large bearings and a long track, as well as stable shoes. Such skates require excellent skating technique on the part of the user, as they are intended for sports and racing roller skating.

Before buying your skates, pay special attention to a few basic elements:

  • the shoe should be comfortable, airy, and streamlined. Attention should be paid to the stiffening and proper “support” of the ankle;
  • Comfortable type of lacing and/or fasteners;
  • type of skate (aluminum or plastic);
  • the hardness and size of the wheels;
  • the presence of additional equipment – handles for carrying inline skates, quick release mechanisms for the shoe, and a “shock absorber”.

It is also important to remember safety. Every roller skater will also need a helmet and pads for knees, elbows, and wrists.

6- Roller skates or inline skates?

Many people wonder what to choose – roller skates or in-line skates. Inline skates (roller skates) are much more popular because they are more modern, allow faster, more dynamic skating, and are more agile.

Bags are good for beginners, for example for children. They are more stable, which makes it easier to learn to drive. In addition, roller skates do not allow to develop high speeds, which makes them safer.
