Ginger – medicinal properties, application, contraindications

Ginger has been valued for its health properties for centuries. It is widely used in natural medicine. They appreciate it mainly for its warming, antibacterial and antiviral properties. It is useful in the treatment of colds and slimming.

1- Ginger – nutritional values

The most important part of the plant is the ginger root, vigorously branched and forming bulbous sections. Ginger is no longer found in the wild, it is cultivated in many countries with tropical climates. You can also easily buy it in Poland. It is available in almost every grocery store or supermarket.

3- Ginger – application

  • Antiemetic – Ginger is commonly used for motion sickness. It is available in different forms, from capsules to ginger candy, especially recommended for children with the disease. In this case, it is worth replacing traditional medicines with natural ginger.

Ginger is also used to relieve vomiting and nausea after chemotherapy or surgery.

  • Anticoagulant – is used to prevent blood clots from forming in the blood vessels.
  • Warming – used for colds and flu. Delicious ginger tea with honey is then ideal, as it warms and boosts immunity.
  • Lowering blood cholesterol.
  • Anti-swelling – due to the oil which has diuretic properties.
  • Facilitate digestion – ginger is also recommended for flatulence.

  • Slimming – ginger increases the metabolic rate, thus accelerating the burning of fat and carbohydrates.

4- Ginger for colds

Due to its warming, antibacterial, and analgesic properties, ginger is recommended for the treatment of colds and flu. Its use supports the body’s fight against viruses and pathogenic bacteria. It will relieve sore throat, cough, and fever. It will also help to strengthen the resistance.

How to use ginger for colds? The easiest way is ginger tea. It will perfectly warm the body while fighting the disease. The second proposal with a higher content of beneficial specificity is ginger infusion, to which you can also add honey, cloves, and lemon. This aromatic drink will help you recover faster.

5- Ginger – contraindications

Not everyone can benefit from the valuable properties of ginger. First of all, it should be avoided by people with chronic gastrointestinal diseases (gastric ulcer, reflux), as well as:

  • hemophiliac patients,
  • people with high blood pressure should use ginger with caution,
  • Pregnant and nursing women should also be moderate in their consumption of ginger.
